Synthetic rugs are extremely popular because they’re great to have in a house with kids or pets.  Polyester rugs are affordable and very easy to maintain. Comparable materials are nylon and polypropylene. Polyester rugs are also great for the outdoors where they’ll last year-round without much maintenance.

When you need a rug to place in an entertainment room or relaxation area polyester is the way to go. This material is also free of allergens which is a plus for many consumers. Don’t let the word “synthetic” fool you. These polyester rugs can look just as amazing as wool or cotton rugs. Choosing the right colors and design will help make your room looks amazing.

2. It Comes in Amazing Colors

One of the biggest benefits of using a polyester rug is that they come in bright and vibrant colors. It’s easier to dye and make patterns with than many other rug fibers. Pinks, blues, yellows, and reds will pop in the room of your choice. Wool, cotton and other natural fibers don’t hold color as easily as polyester.

This is another reason to use a polyester rug for kids and teenagers. If you love modern geometric styles, this is the perfect rug fiber for you. Pairing bright rugs will make your room stand out even more. Consider picking a few colors for your room and find a rug in one or all of these colors.

3. Polyester Rugs Are Soft

Everyone loves a soft and cozy rug. This fiber is perfect for this reason. Polyester is a super soft material. This may come as a surprise since polyester is a mix of plastic and other materials. It’s relatively lightweight and when mixed with cotton it feels even cozier. Like any homeowner, a soft and cozy fabric is key to making your house feel like home.  It’s also stretch resistant which is a plus for those who need a rug that will retain its shape in high traffic areas.

Shag rugs made from this materials are the softest of all. These rug work perfectly in a bedroom or living room. Keep in mind that even though shag rugs may be made from polyester, just like all shag rugs, they aren’t easy to maintain. Ideally, this kind of polyester rug should go in a low traffic room where it won’t become damaged.

4. It’s Affordable

Polyester is one of the most affordable rug materials on the market. This is because it’s created from a blend of fibers. Even though it won’t last forever you can always replace this kind of rug without having to spend a ton of money. This makes it ideal for large families or people who love to host visitors.

To keep prices low, polyester rugs are often machine made. This lowers prices but does result in a lower quality rug. For people who like to switch up the look in their house, this is a benefit because they won’t have to worry about wasting money when buying a new rug. It’s perfect for college student’s dorms and those on a tight budget who don’t want to sacrifice their home decor.

Other fibers such as wool or jute can run into problems when water is spilled or even when using water to clean. Polyester rugs are the exact opposite. They’re easy to clean and the rug won’t be ruined in the process. If your polyester rug is small enough, you can even throw it in the washing machine.

Polyester is stain and fade resistant which means spills won’t affect this synthetic fiber as much as other materials. If your rug manages to get dirty, you can always clean it with paper towels and stain removers. Make sure to blot spills with paper towels before using stain removers.

6. Replacement Is Easy

These rugs are available in a wide variety of styles, colors, patterns, and sizes. Polyester as a material is easy to make and easy to transport. You will have to replace this kind of rug more than wool, silk or cotton but you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding a new rug to suit your needs.

You’ll know it’s time to replace your rug when it begins to rip slightly and starts to feel flimsy and indented. This material allows furniture marks to make almost permanent fixtures in the rug. This shortcoming is often what leads to a need to replace the rug altogether. To avoid this, move furniture around your room. Change it up at least 2-3 times a year to make a polyester rug last longer.
